All shadow lions have rosettes. They come in three coat colors: dusky, ashen, and black. Rosettes often won't show on black coats.
Features & Behavior
Wild shadow lions are a force to be reckoned with. They are avid climbers and well known for their sheer strength and aggression. They are solitary in nature, but females occasionally form small hunting parties with related lions. Male shadow lions are generally larger and can be distinguished by their short, black manes. The eyes of shadow lions have been reported to glow when they are angered or threatened. The strongest and most dominant shadow lions have been known to twist and manipulate the shadows around them.
Infant or young shadow lions may be caught or bred and raised as familiars. It takes a strong and steady hand in order to raise a shadow lion. They are difficult to train and even harder to tame. But a full grown shadow lion that has been raised properly is the most reliable and protective of its master and Burik partner. At its highest potential, a shadow lion can use its magic to manipulate and cast shadows. They've even been known to create minor illusions.
Shadow lions work best with dark or earth elemental Buriks and clash most with light and air.
