Mystic moon bears are a small, shy species. They are superb climbers and are often found in the treetops. It is unknown what their true range is in the Kingdom due to their elusive nature, but they are most commonly found in Ilm Forest near Moon Creek. Of all the predators in the Kingdom, the Mystic Moon Bear is the least likely to attack whether provoked or not. Due to their shy and secretive nature, they're more likely to run from conflict or avoid it entirely by living in solitude.
All bears have pale blue-gray eyes and golden masks and neck markings. Moonbeam colored bears, however, are solid white with bright blue eyes and are the rarest color found. Males are slightly larger than females but are not significantly more aggressive. While mature males do tend to avoid each other and are more wary of each other's presence, rarely do fights break out. Rather, confrontations between bears include mostly vocalizations and posturing.
Captive bred or wild caught cubs tend to be slightly less skittish than their wild counterparts. Their nature is inherently timid, but well trained Mystic moon bears are unafraid to back down from a fight so long as its trainer and Burik are willing to stay. Wild and untrained bears have very little apparent magical abilities, and their elusive nature makes it difficult to fully determine the extent of their abilities. It is believed that they can emit soft glows from their gold markings to help them see in the dark or through the fog. Moonbeams' entire bodies have been reported to glow. Even well trained bears have less powerful magic than other familiar species. The majority of their magic comes from the familiar bond and is expressed through the Burik.
Mystic moon bears work best with water and air element Buriks and clash most with dark and earth.
