Duchess XIV

We went hiking in early February with Duchess. Here, we're in a canyon where a good portion of the trails were alongside or actually were frozen streams. Duchess is usually off leash because it's an enclosed space, no one else was around, and she has a good recall. Since she's been doing this since she was young, she prefers being off leash, and whenever she is, she likes to walk at least 20 feet ahead of us. Dominant dog likes to lead. When we're closer to trail entrances/exits, parking lots, roads, and other hikers (with or without dogs), she is leashed, but for the most part, she gets to roam and be merry.
